Shaifuddin Mamat, or Poodien as he is also known, finds inspiration from diverse sources. His interests range from Malaysiakini to Slavoj Zizek and postmodernism to the writings of Farish A. Noor, His works in this exhibition deal with the duality of life and death and the artist – who hails from Tumpat, Kelantan – presents works that vividly reenact the spirit of Surrealism. He has been exhibiting since 2002 and been dabbling in performance art since 2004.
